Summerside Child Care Center prepares a portfolio of engaging and stimulating activities for children every day. We see to it to diversify learning experiences are diversified so that no two days are the same. This keeps children looking forward to another great day at school every day.

Examples of Activities That Support Learning

Our daycare works hard to stay posted on the most up-to-date teaching methods. We are constantly upgrading our curriculum, but maintain basic methods that we believe nurture children’s learning effectively based on our groups. Our approach aligns with the standards of early childhood education in Edmonton, Canada, and these methods are exemplified in the activities we provide for the kids, such as, but not limited to:

  • Arts & Crafts
  • Drama & Puppetry
  • Field Trips
  • Movement
  • Music & Band Activities
  • Outdoor play
  • Pre-Math & Pre-Reading
  • Sense-related activities (smell, sight, feel)
  • Science & Nature
  • Social & Language Development
  • Stories & Poetry

We subject children to various opportunities of independent learning wherein they use their cognitive power, reason, and imagination to explore ideas and test them in reality through tools that are readily made available for their creative freedom. We provide incessant encouragement, guidance, and reinforcement needed to complete those tasks with high self-fulfillment impact.

Each day, you will receive an evaluation of your child so that you are kept updated on how and what they did that day, how much they ate, and what their mood was like. Also, often your child will be taking with them a “home version” of a story or song we talked about during the day, so that you can repeat it with them at home.

Why Activity-Based Learning Works in Child Care

Activity-based learning encourages natural curiosity and builds foundational life skills. Children learn best when they’re actively engaged and emotionally connected to what they’re doing. By using songs, group play, storytelling, and hands-on tasks, children can absorb new ideas without pressure. These methods enhance problem-solving, language acquisition, and motor coordination while keeping learning enjoyable. Summerside Child Care Center incorporates these strategies to keep children enthusiastic about returning every day.
